K-1 Mission Statement
We greet each other everyday.
We ask for things when we want to play.
We say please and then thank you,
and if you're hurt, say, "I'm sorry", too.
We sit and listen; take our turn, because
these are the things we need to learn!

to do our best to improve our speech and language skills
so that we can communicate more effectively with our teachers, friends, and families!

Class Announcements
Shuford's Classic Kids
Please check out the beautiful bulletin board for Shuford's monthly Classic Kid.  Some our students have been nominated by our staff and their pictures hang proudly on the board.  Due to the confidential nature of our department, we are unable to post their names on this site.
5th Grade Reading Assignment
Congratulations to our 5th grade students for working so diligently on their reading projects (due this upcoming week).  The students spent the last few weeks reading their books, discussing them, and jotted down ideas as they went along for their project.  The EC room was full of excitement as the students talked and worked on their assignments.  What a thrill it was for the EC teachers to see the students so dedicated to putting their thoughts onto their project boards.
Look here soon for our own special award amongst the students in our department.
New and Improved IEP's
Last year, the EC teachers and Speech Pathologists were trained for the new paperwork that the state was preparing to use.  As of now, we are able to access the newest version of the DEC 4 (IEP).  It is more detailed and has specific sections that coincide with your child's category.  In fact, there are new names for some of the disabilities.  We all are looking forward to sharing these new IEP forms with you at our annual meetings.
